shipping policy

Flat Rate & Free Standard Shipping terms and conditions:

-Free standard shipping is based on the dollar amount, before any applicable tax and after discount coupons, and is only applicable for retail orders $99 or over and shipping to addresses within the contiguous United States.
-Orders between $30 and $99 ship for $10.95 and orders $29 and below ship for $8.95.
-Flat rate and free standard shipping is through USPS first class mail/parcel service.
-Upgrades for USPS Priority Mail or UPS will include the full price of the selected service, is based on weight, and is not discounted the value of flat rate or free standard shipping.
-Shipping to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. Territories, APO, FPO, or DPO locations are not included in the flat rate or free standard shipping promotion. Shipping to those locations is based on the weight and destination of the order and available shipping options to those locations.

USPS does not deliver to P.O. boxes and does not make deliveries on weekends and all major United States national holidays. Please check with the USPS for a complete list of their operating days/hours at https://about.usps.com.

In the event that a package is lost, Delicate Fabrics will file a claim with the carrier. There is a waiting period of 12-14 business days from the date the package was shipped before a replacement order can be processed at no additional charge to you. If the order is needed sooner, a new order must be placed; thereafter, and once the waiting period has passed, the refund will be processed for the lost package or within the prescribed terms of the shipping carrier.

Processing time and delivery.

-The time needed to prepare an order for shipping varies but you can expect your order to be filled by no later than three (3) business days, excluding federal holidays.
-Orders are processed Monday through Friday. The order cut-off time for processing on Friday is 10:00AM EST.
-Please allow 3-10 business days for shipments to arrive once it has left our facility. In the event that we cannot ship your complete order, we will contact you via e-mail and/or by phone, at the e-mail address and phone number listed on your order.
-Actual transit and delivery time will depend on the shipping carrier. Delicate Fabrics is NOT responsible for carrier delays.
-Undeliverable packages are subject to a $11.99 re-delivery fee. Please ensure your shipping address contains all the necessary information (i.e., building number, apartment number, sub-division, etc.).

Customs and import taxes.

-Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. We are not responsible for delays due to customs.
-Duty, customs tariffs, and VAT are set by the local government and determined based on a combination of the country of origin or manufacturing of the goods being purchased, and the classification of that merchandise in accordance with a system adopted and used by the local government.
-The amount of applicable duty, tariffs and taxes will vary based on the product ordered and the specific rates set by the local government.

return & exchange policy

Please inspect your order upon receipt and contact us immediately at [email protected] if the item was damaged in transit or if you receive the wrong item so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. We will respond within two (2) business days. All transit damage claim requests must be made within seven (7) calendar days of delivery. After seven (7) calendar days, all transit damage claims will be considered null and void.

No Cash or Credit Refunds.

-Refund in the form of store credit will be issued for the item(s) total, less any discounts applied on the items and shipping charges, and minus a 15% restocking fee. If the total order qualified for free shipping, the dollar amount shipping would have cost for the returned item(s)—as per our flat-rate shipping policy—will be deducted from the store credit.
*All fabric sent is thoroughly inspected for holes or any other damage prior to shipping. Soil marks which can be removed by cleaning are NOT considered a defect. Be cognizant of the fabric type purchased and that you understand what is a normal or expected texture for the fabric type. For example, 100% natural silk yarn irregularities and variations in shade are in no way to be considered defective as they are characteristics of silk. Furthermore, and as another example, there is a large difference in texture between China & India silk dupioni. *

Items Eligible for Return or Exchange.

Fabric that is one (1) yard or larger is eligible for return if it meets the conditions below.

  • Any fabrics that have been cut, altered, washed, or used in any way, cease to be eligible for return or exchange. No exceptions.
  • Returns must be received by Delicate Fabrics within 14 calendar days of customer receipt of the items (day ONE (1) begins the day the delivery tracking says “delivered”).
  • You must return the full amount of yardage of the fabric purchased. If an attempt is made to return anything less than the original purchased fabric measurement, no credit or exchange will be issued and if you wish to have the item sent back to you, you must pay for the return shipping.
  • Items sent for return MUST include all original packaging, e.g., all original packing material must be included with the return not necessarily using the same packaging. Refunds or exchanges for items returned damaged or in unsellable condition will not be processed.

Buyer’s Remorse.

Under this clause, a buyer may return fabric as long as it meets all the requirements outlined in this policy for returns.

  • An order may be returned under this clause as long as it meets the conditions under Items Eligible for Return or Exchange.
  • No Cash or Credit Refunds conditions apply to buyer’s remorse returns.
  • Restocking fee of 15% applies and will be deducted from the refund.
  • Buyer is 100% responsible for shipping the item back and must provide tracking information for the return package. This shipping cost is not reimbursed nor is the original shipping cost paid for the item.

Exclusions / Non-Returnable Items.

Sales are FINAL on:

  • Half yard (½) (.5) cuts,
  • sample swatches,
  • clearance fabrics,
  • sale items, and
  • sewing patterns.

These items are not eligible for return or exchange. If an attempt is made to return these items, no credit will be issued and if you wish to have the item sent back to you, you must pay for the return shipping.

Terms and Conditions.

*Reminder* Returns must be received by Delicate Fabrics within fourteen (14) calendar days of receipt of the items by the customer (day ONE (1) begins the day the delivery tracking says “delivered”). If you refuse to accept shipment of your order, or you return any items outside of our fourteen (14)-day return period, you will also be assessed a 25% restocking fee. Any return shipping charges incurred in the case of a refusal will be deducted from the order total.

Lost or Stolen Packages.

-Delicate Fabrics is not responsible for packages that have been confirmed as delivered by the carrier. Please contact your local post office if you believe it was delivered to the wrong address. Please contact your local police department if you believe it was stolen.
-If a package appears to be lost in transit, please contact us at [email protected] and include the order number. Delicate Fabrics will initiate a claim with the carrier to either locate the package or process an insurance claim. Delicate Fabrics will refund (in the original source of payment) or re-ship packages that have been confirmed as lost by the carrier at no additional cost to the customer.

Transit Damage Claims.

-All transit damage claim requests must be made within seven (7) calendar days of delivery. After seven (7) calendar days, all transit damage claims will be considered null and void. Delicate Fabrics is not responsible for packages damaged by the carrier. 
-If a package arrives damaged, contact us immediate via email or message, and include the order number. Delicate Fabrics will initiate a claim with the carrier to process an insurance claim. Delicate Fabrics will refund (in the original source of payment) or re-ship packages at no additional cost to the customer after the carrier accepts the damage claim and while the claim is being processed.


Return Procedures.

-To start a return, contact us at [email protected] for your return authorization. If your return is accepted, you will be sent instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without a return authorization on file will not be accepted. If you wish to have the item sent back to you, you must pay for the return shipping.
-It is strongly suggested that all returns have a package tracking service (i.e., USPS or UPS tracking number). Delicate Fabrics is not responsible for returns lost by the carrier. The customer must submit a claim with the carrier for options available to locate the package or process insurance claims.

Processing Times.

Once returns are received and inspected, we will process the store credit within three to five (3-5) business days.

Etsy and eBay Marketplace orders.

Orders placed in these, or any similar platform, are subject to the platform’s mandated return policies. However, where applicable and allowable, the remainder of the policies on this page shall apply.

ALL BUYERS WHO FILE A RETURN WITH A FALSE CLAIM WILL BE REPORTED.

-PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Did you know that color names are arbitrary? It’s true. Only PANTONE® color names are “true” names. (Bet you didn’t know there was an actual World authority on color.)

-All colors have been matched with the most popular and common thread available, and the fabric color is named to match the most commonly used name for that thread, unless the name does not reflect the color. For example, we would not call a red fabric “forest.”

-All efforts have been made to describe the color as accurately as possible and taken under different lighting conditions to help you assess how your creation will look under different lighting. Not enough pictures? Send us a message and we will be happy to provide you with more photos based on your preferred color contrast to help you determine if this color will work for your project.

-Claims that the color is brighter or darker than what your device displays is a “false claim.” We not only offer to provide you with as many pictures as you need to make an informed purchase, but we also provide you with a popular and common thread manufacturer’s color match so you can go to your local hobby shop and see the color in person. THE COLOR MATCH IS MADE BY STRAND, NOT BY THE COLOR ON THE SPOOL.
